Area profile

The community town of Abergele is situated on the North Wales coast, lying between the holiday resort towns of Colwyn Bay and Rhyl. The town lies on the A55 road and is served by the Abergele and Pensarn railway station.

Abergele (including Pensarn) has a population of around 10,500 and is part of the Abergele/Rhyl/Prestatyn urban area. Around 29% of the  Abergele population has a significant knowledge of Welsh. The Community Council comprises of Gele, Pensarn, Pentre Mawr and St George wards. The area has three primary schools and one secondary school.
